Recapping Our Recent Schlüter-Ditra Heat Workshop
As you may know, we recently held a 60-minute workshop, highlighting Schlüter’s Ditra Heating System across our showrooms in Colchester, Ipswich, Harlow, Norwich and Bury St. Edmunds. The training covered all aspects of this product, in particular, what it is, how you apply it, and why it is perfect for this time of year. So, for those of you who couldn’t make it, we decided to recap it and explain it in this blog!
What is Schlüter-Ditra?
Ditra-Heat is a perfect all-in-one integrated underfloor heating solution for use under tiles and natural stone floor designed by Schlüter-Systems. In short, it is a unique electrical underfloor heating system that has an uncoupling matting system which prevents measuring mistakes, self-levelling, and primer layers.
It is designed with a polyethene membrane with a cut-back stud structure that allows you to be creative in how you place the heating cables and design your room to have optimum heating zones. In addition, it has a unique studded design for the attachment of heating cables, allowing you to fit cables without the need for tape.
With all these features combined, the design of Ditra-Heat makes installation very easy and can cut installation time by up to 70%.
Why Should You Use It?
As you would expect, this system is ideal for refurbishment and renovation projects, and according to Schlüter, can offer these main benefits:
1. Easy to Press
This under tile heating system is easy to press, meaning you don’t have to use tape or glue when you lay it. This will allow you to easily lay the tiles and the cable.
2. No Levelling Layer
As briefly mentioned, Ditra-Heat has a matting layer system which means you don’t have to install levelling layer before laying your tiles, which will save you time and money.
3. Loose Heating Cable
This product offers greater flexibility in the layout of the under tile heating cables, allowing you to easily create heating zones.
4. Uniform Spacing
No measuring is required, you just simply lay the cables 3 studs apart, which makes it easier.
5. Tile Immediately
You can tile onto Ditra-Heat immediately. There’s no need to wait for anything – get started straight away.
6. Perfect For Winter
As you would expect, with the winter months soon approaching, now is the perfect time to invest in an under tile heating system and renovate your home. It is great for use in rooms such as bathrooms, shower rooms, and wet rooms, where the cold can be unpleasant.
