Concrete and Timber Underfloor Heating Mats

Share

As our showrooms are having a promotion on both Concrete Mats and Timber Mats, we thought we’d give you a few insights into each product, and maybe help you decide which is better for you and your renovations.

Underfloor heating mats offer the perfect solution for even distribution of heat throughout certain rooms in your home. Whether you’re looking to keep your feet warm whilst cooking in your kitchen or heat the bathroom to avoid the cold feeling on your feet as you step out of the shower, underfloor heating can be easily used in a variety of situations.

Timber Mats

Our timber-based underfloor heating mats are the perfect choice for taking the chill off the floor on those cold winter mornings. Due to their low watt output, they can be laid directly onto timber substrates, without causing a fire hazard. All of our timber-based mats are 100W per m² which makes them best suited to being a secondary heat source.

A secondary heat source is something that looks to take the ‘cold edge’ away from the floor but doesn’t, however, replace your radiators. For example, if you are looking to extend your kitchen, you could use your timber-based mats to ensure that the floor will remain warm rather than heating the extension.

Concrete Mats

Our concrete mats are the only choice when it comes to producing a higher wattage to remove those radiators. These underfloor heating mats produce a watt output of 150W per m². Due to the higher watt output, our concrete underfloor heating mats have to be placed onto a concrete substrate rather than anything timber-based as this could cause a fire hazard. If you’re flooring is timber and you are looking for a primary heat source, then you will need to introduce a concrete based insulation board to work as a separation layer.

The higher watt output means that our concrete underfloor heating mats now work as your primary heat source, meaning that these mats don’t look to take the ‘edge off’ but rather look to heat the entire room. These underfloor heating mats, therefore, mean that you can optimise space within your rooms and remove those ugly radiators.

At Tile & Stone Gallery, we offer both timber and concrete underfloor heating mats to ensure that whatever your project needs, we have the perfect solution. Head down to your local showroom to have a closer look at both products – we bet they cost less than you think.
