This year, we’ve been writing a series of blogs dedicated to each of our ancillary ranges. This month, we’ll be showcasing our range of primers, sealers and cleaners – covering the benefits of the brands and products we stock.
Primers
Primers are an essential part of tile installation. Unlike sealers and cleaners, a primer is used before tiles are installed and is specifically designed to prepare surfaces.
BAL Bond SBR
The BAL Bond SBR is an excellent multi-purpose choice, not only working as a priming agent, but also as a bonding agent. Bottles are available in both 1 and 5 litre sizes – 1 litre will typically cover 12m². We recommend checking the product description to ensure you purchase the correct amount for your use.
BAL Prime APD
The BAL Prime APD is an acrylic primer, designed to be used on both walls and floors. This product can also be used alongside BAL levelling compounds as well as the BAL WP1 Tanking System. A 2.5-litre bottle can cover from 12.5-25m² undiluted, or when mixed 1:1 with clean water, can cover up to 50m².
Ardex P51
The Ardex P51 is a multi-purpose primer, designed to seal and prime a wide range of surfaces – the option to dilute the solution allows you to get the most out of the product.
The P51 features a blue pigment in the solution allowing you to clearly see where you have already primed. Covering approximately 25m² undiluted, or 33m² diluted with 1:1 water – choosing the Ardex P51 is a great decision for your tile installation!
Sealers & Cleaners
Sealers and cleaners are applied after the installation of tiles, designed to prevent and clean stains respectively. We stock a wide range of both sealers and cleaners, below are some products we recommend to get the best results and value for your money.
Lithofin Stainstop PLUS
The Lithofin Stainstop PLUS is the perfect sealer for preventing a wide range of dirty buildup including water spots, oil and grease. Suitable for many types of stone surfaces, the Lithofin Stainstop PLUS is perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. This product features all the benefits of other Lithofin Stainstop products, such as the MN Colour Enhancer and the KF Stainstop so if you are looking for a single-use sealer, those may be a better option for you.
Lithofin Anti-Slip Set
The Lithofin Anti-Slip Set is perfect for rooms with floor tiles such as kitchens or bathrooms that may get wet. Installing this can give you not only peace of mind but also reliable protection from any slips. A single set of this product is suitable to cover approximately 6m² of flooring.
Lithofin KF Intensive Cleaner
The KF Intensive Cleaner is the perfect product to be used for an occasional deep cleaning of your floors – specifically designed to remove dirt, oil and grease. Perfect for restoring the original appearance of your tiles, excelling in removing large buildups and stubborn stains.
